Attic Conversion and Home Renovation

This 1980’s A-frame townhouse originally had two small bedrooms, one bathroom and a storage loft. The owners now enjoy living in their spacious home which boasts three large bedrooms and two bathrooms. All this extra room was created by using the space inside the existing footprint more efficiently… no extension required!

Before the attic conversion could start, extensive strengthening of the existing home was needed, with loading points added to accommodate the weight of the second floor. A central staircase was added, with easy access from the living area. The stairs were created by taking some space from a small downstairs bedroom. The bedroom's remaining area was used to give the couple a spacious master bedroom with a fitted wardrobe. Downstairs, the existing rooms were cleverly remodelled to create a large modernised kitchen and an open plan lounge/dining room. James also renovated the bathroom.

Formerly a storage loft and roof cavity, the second storey houses two generous bedrooms, with a bathroom between them. A wide dormer window was added to each of the three rooms to create more space and added ceiling height. The new space gives the homeowners a huge new sewing room and guest bedroom.

James also built a double garage at the end of the driveway. By using similar design, materials and colours, it integrates perfectly with the existing home. The owners are so impressed with the renovation, that they have decided to repeat the project in their daughter’s home, which is the second townhouse at the front of the property.
