Home renovation and garage conversion in Takapuna
These homeowners wanted to make better use of the space they had. We modernised their home's layout and converted the garage into a playroom.
Homeowner testimonial from Naomi
“James was easy to work with from the beginning, nothing we asked of him was too difficult. He was very dynamic in the way he works, that was a big plus for us. Other builders we met with stated what they thought was good, but James always incorporated our ideas. James delivered every time. Other sub-trades who have worked on our house since the renovation have been impressed with his precision. His workmanship is amazing. I have recommended him to many friends and neighbours.”
When this family of four bought their small, three bedroom, single level brick home, it had not been updated for twenty years. They originally planned to decorate and make only cosmetic improvements. However, once the family started living in the home, they felt the space could be used much more efficiently. They decided to modernise the layout of their dated home to accommodate their lifestyle and two small, and very active, children.
James gutted the house to upgrade the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. He also added a large wrap around deck which improved the indoor outdoor flow and provided extra space for the children to play. The family now has a clean, modern home where they can spread out in separate spaces or enjoy the renovated family areas, including the large deck.
Homeowner, Naomi, appreciated how James kept them informed. She says he always discussed any planning changes and drew pictures to help them understand how things would work. James was also careful to explain any extra costs when the couple made changes, knowing they didn’t want any budget surprises.
A garage conversion gave the family an extra bathroom and a playroom for the children
The couple got James back a second time to renovate their garage. This gave them a functional playroom/rumpus to house the children’s toys, a spare couch and piano. The new playroom is easily accessed at the end of the hallway, by the bedrooms. An old laundry area within the garage was developed into an extra bathroom for the children to use. The new laundry is housed in a double-door cupboard in the main bathroom.
